Yesterday our plans changed, as usual. Instead of going the eastern portion of the Grand Loop Road in Yellowstone, we took advantage of the nice weather and headed down to Old Faithful... just in case the weather was bad today and they closed park roads. Well, we encountered every type of weather on this drive...rain, sleet, hail, snow... and sun! We also saw an amazing sight... a mamma bear and her two cubs! 
We stopped a couple of times at different geysers, but nothing was like Old Faithful. When we arrived, it was snowing pretty heavily, but it was wet and too warm to stick. We had to wait about an hour before the next geyser, so we walked through the stores and the Old Faithful Inn. The inn was built over 100 years ago and is amazing! The ceiling in the lodge area are over 70 feet high
and it's all timber with thick beams everywhere!Old Faithful is something everyone should see if they visit Yellowstone. It's not the highest geyser in the park, but it's the most reliable... spouting every 90 minutes or so. It doesn't spout as high as it used to, but it's pretty impressive nevertheless. Thankfully, the snow had stopped
and the sun had come out by the time it let loose, so we saw a great show!
On the way back to Gardiner, it started snowing and sleeting again... fun!Today, we're heading to the eastern section of the Grand Loop Road to Cooke City. Supposedly between the northern entrance (where we enter the park) and the northeastern entrance in Cooke City, we'll see an amazing amount of wildlife... we'll let you know when we get back!
