Countdown...

37 days and counting....

Tuesday, August 11, 2009

Spent most of the day planning stops in California and making reservations. After spending 2 months in Quartzsite, AZ, we will head home via the California coast up to San Francisco and I80 East from there. Stops in California include San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco. I've found some good reviews on the campgrounds we'll be staying at. We'll be close enough to visit the cities, but far enough out to explore the coast and countryside. One stay will be near Yosemite Natl Park, another near Hearst Castle, and we definitely want to visit the Griffith Observatory.

More exciting details about our journey to come!

I think I miscounted....only 50 days to go...and counting....

Packing list

Thinking about what to pack for our trip. We went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and found collapsible bowls and collapsible strainers...what a great idea!

We redecorated the RV last month...took out the existing sofa and recliner, bought 2 wall hugger recliners and and new tv that sits on top of an IKEA cabinet. The hole where the tv was above the driver is now designated for linens. This setup creates alot more open space to move around and is much homier. I think we'll really enjoy it on our trip.

Planning for our Westward Bound trip

Making plans for a 7 month adventure in our RV. After 4 years in Florida, we've decided to head out to New Mexico, Arizona and California. First stop is Topeka KS to visit grandkids, then on to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta! Plans include visits to Sante Fe and Taos as well as seeing the sites of Albuquerque. From there, we'll spend 2 months in Las Cruces, NM, 1 month in Benson, AZ and 2 months in Quartzsite, AZ.

This blog will officially start on September 30th, when our travels begin. It will be an online (daily, hopefully) journal of our adventures, along with whatever pictures I remember to take along the way!

In the meantime, I'll try and hone my writing skills a little so I don't embarrass myself.
