After stopping at the Flying J near Oklahoma City OK, we decided to go about 40 more miles to a small RV park owned by a Best Western motel in El Reno OK. It's a tight squeeze but we managed to put both tipouts out and Ed is enjoying watching the Minnesota Twins play the Detroit Tigers...I guess tonight's game will determine which team plays the Yankees tomorrow...ho hum. The ride today was uneventful and tomorrow we plan on going about 260 miles. Playoffs start tomorrow...3 games...gotta get to the Walnut RV Park in Vega TX in time to see at least 3 of the games!

Oh yeah, my head is fine...still bandaged...I'll be good as new by the time we get to Albuquerque! Just a teensy headache today...I think from tensing up when I conked the RV!

Onward to Wichita KS!

Well, after spending a fantastic weekend with Ed's daughter and her family, we continued our journey down I 35 South to Wichita KS...a mere 150 miles or so from Topeka. Drove through the Flint Hills, which were featured in the April 2007 National Geographic.

As far as the eye can see!

Our goal in Wichita was to visit the Karg Glass Gallery in Kechi KS...we had purchased a blown glass fish at a Naples art festival from Karg and, since we were heading in that direction anyway, wanted to see the gallery. It was well worth the stop! They have art from many different local and national artists, as well as artists in Canada. Here's the link: http://www.rollinkarg.com/.

We're staying at USI RV Park in North Wichita...a well kept nice park. Not alot of scenery, mostly gravel, but great satelite, wide open space...definitely a good place to stop for a night. The managers are very friendly and went out of their way to hunt down a brochure for the Karg Gallery.

After our visit to the gallery, we headed to downtown Wichita to an area called Old Town...but most of the shops were closed on Monday...so we had to settle on a micro-brewery for a drink...darn!

One 'minor' incident after we got back from the touring....we were fixing the rain guard over the window on the car and Ed asked me to go into the RV and get a Q-tip...well, I ran around the back corner of the RV and smack into the bedroom tipout! I landed on my butt on the ground, $350 new glasses bent and on the ground about 5 feet away, blood gushing out of my forhead! I've never seen so much blood! Ed showed his true colors...he was right there taking care of me and is still, 3 hours later, hovering...I think he was as scared as I was! Well, my forehead has about a 1-inch gash and is bandaged and I'll be good as new in no time. We went to Walmarts and the vision center there straightened my glasses...so all's well that ends well! I'm now waiting for the headache that has thankfully stayed away with the help of some Advils!

Tomorrow we're only traveling about 180 miles, staying at a Flying J in Yukon, OK. It's been very nice taking our time and stopping early every day...

First Stop, Topeka KS

After a white knuckle trip through Missouri and Kansas on Friday...battling strong winds....we made it to our first stop...Topeka, KS. Ed's grandkids have grown so much in the past couple of years...and they're all gorgeous! Their neighborhood is beautiful and Emma LOVES their back yard! It's huge and she can run free all the way to the lake! Tonight we went to a fundraiser at the local zoo and enjoyed several different appetizers from local restaurants who had set up booths, as well as beer and wine. Tomorrow I think us girls will go shopping (I'm looking for some clog Uggs!) while the guys watch the Giants play on TV in their 'media' room!

Drove 370 miles today...from Kirkersville, OH to Mulberry Grove, IL. We decided to stay at a compground tonight instead of a Flying J (although we DID stop at one for gas about 40 miles back in Effingham, IL!). We're staying at a lovely little campground called Cedargrove RV park...luckily it's open until Oct 31. All tipouts are out, tanks are empty...we're ready to hit Topeka KS and see the grandkids tomorrow!

Drove 340 miles today and we're settling in for the night at the Flying J in Kirkersville OH. Not many RVs have stopped for the night yet, which is surprising...usually it's packed wherever we stop! Maybe Kirkersville OH isn't on anyone's route down south! Well, we'll be heading that way in about a week...after our stop in Topeka KS to visit with the grandkiddies. We saw a really cool OLD RV where we're staying tonight. I think it's called a Travelco and it was built in 1974.

How cool is that??

Gotta go...we're getting hungry and I think I hear chicken soup calling us! Yumm!!

Ready, Set, GO!

Well, after a very busy week of saying our goodbyes and finishing up last minute chores, we're finally on the road! I have to say that traveling through Connecticut and New York are the worst part of any journey. No offense to CT/NY residents..I live in CT...but I 95 is the pits!

Took the Tappenzee Bridge, then down I 287S, then picked up I 78W. Stopped on I 81W overnite at a Flying J at about 4:00pm. Good thing we stopped when we did, because the overnite RV spots were almost completely full. We traveled a comfortable 320 miles today and are now relaxing...getting ready to watch the Yankees on DirectTV...GO Yankees!!

For dinner we heated up a couple of EXCELLENT stuffed peppers that Ed's sister Marilyn made for us...the peppers were from Ed's garden! They really hit the spot! For lunch we had some home-made soupie and provolone cheese....the soupie came from Pat at L&M Hospital...I miss my co-workers already! Tomorrow's lunch will be some delicious chicken soup that my friend Helen made for us...my mouth is watering already!

RV Rally was a success!

Relaxing now after a very busy RV rally in Mystic. I think it was a big success, though...everyone seemed to have a great time! And the weather was gorgeous! We're relaxing now, tho...it was an exhausting 3 days.

Now I'm going to try and post a picture, so when we begin our westcoast trip, I'll be all set!
